Terms and Conditions

Thank you for choosing to book to stay at Mariner’s Cottage, we look forward to welcoming you.  Please read our terms and conditions of booking below.

All bookings accepted by Coastal Cottages, a family business owned by Andrew and Kate Mulhern, are subject to the following conditions:-

Contract

The contract is made between you, the client, and Coastal Cottages and is governed by the law of the Isle of Man. It is effective from the time Coastal Cottages sends written confirmation of the booking to the client. The cottage may only be used for holiday purposes. Bookings from clients under the age of 18 years of age are not accepted.

Payment

Once you have booked your holiday, our agreement is a legal contract and your deposit is non-refundable.  A deposit of 20% of the total holiday cost is required. Full payment is required if the booking is made within 28 days of the beginning of the holiday. Bookings will be confirmed once the payment is received. Payment may be made by PayPal or BACS transfer.  The balance of payment is required 28 days before the start date of the holiday. Once final payment is received Coastal Cottages will send the client directions to the property and arrangements for collecting the key. If full payment has not been received 28 days before the holiday start date Coastal Cottages reserves the right to cancel the holiday. Deposits are not refundable. 

Amending price 

The client will be liable for the amount shown on the booking confirmation once the confirmation has been issued. Coastal Cottages reserves the right to amend quoted prices if an error or omission occurs or if there is a change in the rate of VAT.

Cancellation by you

In the unfortunate event that you need to cancel your holiday you should inform Coastal Cottages as soon as possible. No refund will be given if the cancellation is made within 28 days of the holiday start date. We strongly advise that you take out to adequate travel insurance to cover this.  If the cancellation is made more than 28 days prior to the holiday start date the deposit will be retained and any further balance will be refunded. 

Cancellation by Coastal Cottages 

Coastal Cottages would only cancel your holiday if your accommodation was unavailable for reasons beyond its control.  Coastal Cottages would attempt to offer you alternative accommodation, however if this was not possible, or unacceptable to you, then all monies paid by you for your holiday would be refunded.  Coastal Cottages’ liability would not extend beyond this refund.

Liability for injuries

Coastal Cottages does not accept responsibility for injuries sustained at the property or for any loss or damage to the belongings of clients or their visitors.

Occupants

All the persons occupying the property must be named on the booking. The person completing the booking, the lead name, accepts the Terms and Conditions for all members of the party. The lead name must be over 18 years of age and be one of the people occupying the property. He/she accepts responsibility for all the members of the party during their stay. Coastal Cottages reserves the right to refuse or rescind any booking that it considers to be unsuitable for the property.

Responsibility and breakages

The client is responsible for the property for the period of the holiday. Additional cleaning costs incurred because the property has not been left in a clean condition will be charged to the client. Damage or breakages must be notified to Coastal Cottages before the end of the holiday and any resulting charges must be paid on demand. Coastal Cottages should be notified immediately if there are any damaged or non-working items at the property so that they can be fixed or replaced. Coastal Cottages has the right to enter the property at any time (without notice if it cannot practically be given) in order to deal with emergencies or repairs. Coastal Cottages has the right to repossess the property if any member of the party causes willful damage.

Health or mobility issues 

If any member of the party has health or mobility issues his/her needs should be mentioned at the initial inquiry in order to assess the suitability of the property.

Complaints 

If you have any complaints please make them to Coastal Cottages immediately so that the necessary action may be taken. No compensation can be made for complaints made after the holiday has ended or where Coastal Cottages has been denied the opportunity to make amendments during your stay.

Description and advertising

Coastal Cottages has taken care to ensure that any descriptions on its website and other advertising is accurate. However it cannot be responsible for changes beyond its control which occurred after publication.

Pets

One well behaved dog is permitted by prior arrangement.  No pet should be left alone at the property at any time.

Inclusions in price 

The price of the accommodation includes electricity, linen, cleaning, hot water and central heating.  

Departure 

The property must be vacated by the agreed time of departure.

Dispute 

Any legal action resulting from a dispute between the parties will be subject to the Isle of Man law.
